The London Stock Exchange trades from 8am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday, for example. All very civilized. What effect would it have on the market and the economy as a whole if it started trading 24/7? Presumably it is possible – is it desirable?

I need the basic of the basic stuff here. I don’t even have a clue where to go to invest in stock markets in uk or if you do it on line or over the phone. I just need to know how. I don’t need tips or what i should be investing in. Also what age can you invest in the stock market?

If the stock market is entirely governed by random walk, if it has zero patterns, if it really means nothing whether you have faith in value investing or growth investing, active investing or passive investing, then does it ultimately matter what you invest in? How is then a stock exchange any less of a speculation than a trip to Vegas? What’s the point of researching a stock? If the stock market is so random, why not just invest in any random stock? Is there any meaning at all, or just chaos?

I finally got a job and now I have some money that i would like to invest in stock market. Just have some novoice type of questions in mind. Suppose, I open an online demat account with services like sharekhan or others. Do I have to first find a buyer in order to sell stocks (How complex is that thing).

I’m new to stock market and I’d like to know what to consider before you buy something on the market? Also, is there any forum or helping websites out there to help? Thanks for any answer.

So I’m thinking a little towards which colleges I would like to apply to next year, and I figured since I spend a few hours a month researching the stock market and making small investments, would colleges like to know this? My father owns the account, but I make the decisions. Would a college see this as a negative aspect such as gambling, or as an active hobby (Talking highly selective colleges here)?

I’m 25 and have wanted to begin little by little in the stock market. The thing is I don’t know where to start either by finding a stock broker or company where I can invest into. I worked for five years at a corporation here in PA and we had a TIAA CREF 401K plan but I am no longer with them and want to know how to do this to make money on my own with the stock market. I think there would be a massive stock sell off before the increase happens to avoid the higher taxes. and that would hurt the economy. Also why would people risk money on the stock market if they have to pay a 50% tax if they make money?
