Yet another auto parts plant in Toledo is seeing a major investment, this time at a Johnson Controls battery factory. Johnson Controls plans to invest more than 8 million at its battery plant in Holland to convert its production from traditional lead acid car batteries to a newer, eco-friendly version. The so-called “Start-Stop” batteries will launch production about a year from now, but the conversion is expected to start yet this summer. When done, the Holland factory be able to make six million of the batteries each year. Johnson Controls is receiving million in state and local tax incentives for its investment, which will retain 400 jobs and create 50 new ones.
