The prediction may be based on an outlook of market or economic conditions resulting from technical or fundamental analysis. This is an investment strategy based on the outlook for an aggregate market, rather than for a particular financial asset. Market timing often looks at various moving averages. Popular are the 50- and 200-day moving averages. Some people consider that if the market has gone above the 50- or 200-day average that should be considered bullish, or below conversely bearish. Some consider it significant when one MA crosses over another. The market timers then predict that the trend will, more likely than not, continue in the future. Others say, ‘nobody knows’, and that world economies and stock markets are of such complexity that market timing strategies are unlikely to be more profitable than buy-and-hold strategies. Whether market timing is ever a viable investment strategy is controversial. Some may consider market timing to be a form of gambling based on pure chance

(former NYSE ticker symbol LEH) (pronounced /ˈliːmən/) was a global financial services firm (4th largest investment bank in the USA behind Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Merrill Lynch) which, until declaring bankruptcy in 2008, participated in business in investment banking, equity and fixed-income sales, research and trading, investment management, private equity, and private banking. It was a primary dealer in the US Treasury securities market. Its primary subsidiaries included Lehman Brothers Inc. , Neuberger Berman Inc. , Aurora Loan Services, Inc. , SIB Mortgage Corporation, Lehman Brothers Bank, FSB, Eagle Energy Partners, and the Crossroads Group. The firm’s worldwide headquarters were in New York City, with regional headquarters in London and Tokyo, as well as offices located throughout the world. On September 15, 2008, the firm filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection following the massive exodus of most of its clients, drastic losses in its stock, and devaluation of its assets by credit rating agencies. Pre-Market News and Views for May 26th 2011

www.inthemoneystocks.com At 8:30 am EST, the first quarter GDP revisions were released which showed the economy grew by just 1.8 percent. This number was sharply below the 2.2 percent growth estimate that economists had expected. The S&P 500 e-mini futures are trading higher on the day by just 1.00 point to 1317.50 per contract. Weekly jobless claims also increased by 10000 to 424000 new initial claims. This is also a disappointing number for the markets which had expected 405000 new claims. Believe it or not, the poor economic data could be good for the stock market this morning. When the economic data is so poor the US Dollar Index(DXY) will usually decline or sell off. That is exactly what the US Dollar Index is doing this morning, the DXY is declining lower by 0.54 cents to .40 per contract. When the dollar declines the major stock indexes will usually inflate and trade higher. It is important to note that the weak dollar has not had as much effect in lifting and inflating the markets that it has had in the past. This is certainly a change in character and traders should be aware of that.
