Would an Accounting degree help me get a job in investment management?
I am interested in pursuing a Business degree with a major in Banking and Finance at university, possibly to work in investment management in the future.
One particular university offers the possibility of a Business degree with a double major, one being Banking and Finance and the other being Accounting. Doing the double major only requires one extra year of study, which I don’t mind doing.
However, I want to know, would the Accounting major increase my chances of getting a good job in this field?

While accounting knowledge may offer useful application, particularly in the areas of taxation and qualified plans, it probably will not enhance your ability to get the job, versus just a finance degree. A finance degree is particularly appropriate here; however, I’m not sure if a "banking and finance" degree is the same thing. If the degree is one with an emphasis in banking, it is neither a finance degree nor particularly applicable to the position you’re seeking.
NO – you would be wasting your time and money – you would probably have to take a few basic accounting courses as a finance major, but nothing beyond that would help you
chances are you might need to take other courses related to financial planning or investing after your 4 yr degree
